Taste of Heaven began as a passion project between three friends who spent every weekend hunting for the best cafes in Taipei โ and decided to share what they found.
It started with a spreadsheet. Three friends โ a graphic designer, a food writer, and a software developer โ started tracking every cafe they visited, rating them not just on coffee quality but on the whole experience: how welcoming the staff were, whether you could stay for hours, whether you could bring your dog.
The spreadsheet grew. Friends started asking for access. Then friends of friends. In 2022, we turned it into this website โ and the response was beyond anything we imagined.
Today, Taste of Heaven covers 120+ cafes across Taipei, with plans to expand to Tainan, Taichung, and beyond. Every listing is personally visited. Every review is honest. We never accept payment for placement.
What guides every cafe we recommend
We only recommend places where customers are genuinely made to feel welcome โ not just tolerated. Good service is non-negotiable.
We'd rather list 120 exceptional spots than 500 mediocre ones. Every cafe earns its place through merit, not through advertising spend.
We highlight cafes that are working toward more sustainable practices โ from farm-direct sourcing to reusable cup programmes.
We believe great cafes are the living rooms of their neighbourhoods. We champion locally-owned independents over chains.
The humans behind the recommendations
A graphic designer with a matcha obsession who brings the visual storytelling that makes each cafe listing feel alive.
Food writer turned cafe hunter. He's visited every single listing personally and takes his V60 very seriously.
The developer who turned a spreadsheet into a website. Will write code for espresso.
Our eyes on the ground. Sophie's cafe photography has been featured in lifestyle magazines across Taiwan.
